HCMC – While the country is facing a shortage of electricity, a solar power plant project, which is being developed in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang, is expected to generate power for the entire southwestern region, according to the An Giang government.

Sao Mai Group Corporation today, September 15, continued work on the second phase of the project by installing the main equipment for the plant located in Tinh Bien District, with a total investment of over VND3 trillion.

The firm will complete the entire solar power plant with a capacity of 210 megawatt-peak and a total investment of VND6 trillion in late 2020, according to a representative from Sao Mai.

Speaking at a ceremony to begin the second phase of the project, Nguyen Thanh Binh, chairman of An Giang Province, said the solar power plant, which is being carried out in two phases by the Sao Mai Group Corporation, would contribute to the socio-economic development of the province.

The plant covering 270 hectares of land is expected to attract more investors to the province due to the stable supply of electricity, Nguoi Lao Dong Online reported, citing Binh.

Also, Sao Mai Group Corporation is preparing to inaugurate the An Hao mineral water plant in An Giang Province’s Tri Ton District with a total investment of VND120 billion.
