HCMC – A train on HCMC’s Metro Line 1 temporarily stopped at Ba Son Station on December 26 due to a signal inconsistency, reported the local media reports.
The incident occurred at about 6:30 p.m. when train number 1700, en route from Suoi Tien Bus Terminal to Ben Thanh, was halted for a technical inspection. Passengers were asked to disembark as a precautionary measure.
Operational staff identified irregularities in the train’s control signals. The train remained stationary for approximately 10 minutes while the issue was assessed by workers in coordination with the contractor, Hitachi, and the operator, HURC1.
Service resumed shortly afterward, with officials confirming that all safety protocols had been followed. However, the delay disrupted the schedule of other trains on the line.
The Metro Line 1 management board emphasized that any technical issue, no matter how minor, is immediately addressed to ensure passenger safety during the line’s initial phase of operation.
Metro Line 1 began commercial operations on December 22, operating nearly 800 trips and carrying 395,000 passengers in its first four days—274% above initial expectations.
During its trial phase, the line underwent rigorous testing, covering 47 operational scenarios, including power outages and signal losses, to ensure smooth and safe operations, according to the board.
