HCMC – The Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises has just named Nguyen Hong Hien as new board chairman of the mobile service carrier MobiFone, replacing Nguyen Manh Thang.
Hien, 48, began his five-year tenure at the company yesterday. Before being installed as the top leader at MobiFone, Hien, a graduate in Financial Law at Queen Mary of London University, used to serve as head of the Technology and Infrastructure Department at the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises. He had also worked at the State Capital Investment Corporation, serving as deputy head of SCIC in 2014.
Hien’s predecessor, Nguyen Manh Thang, now sits in the Members Council of VNPT, having led MobiFone since 2017.
In 2021, the firm obtained revenue of VND31 trillion and a pre-tax profit of VND4.96 trillion despite impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic, all beating the annual targets. It aims a revenue of VND31.36 trillion and a pre-tax profit of VND4.7 trillion this year.
