HCMC – The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) has instructed local authorities and businesses to prepare for the year-end and Lunar New Year (Tet) by ensuring sufficient supply of goods and stabilizing market prices.
Minister Nguyen Hong Dien issued Directive No. 12/CT-BCT, outlining measures to balance supply and demand and maintain market stability through early 2025, according to the ministry.
The directive emphasizes the need for detailed production and distribution plans to prevent shortages and price spikes during Tet, contributing to overall economic stability.
Local industry and trade departments have been tasked with stockpiling essential goods, such as food and agricultural products, while businesses are encouraged to monitor market conditions closely and adjust their plans in response to factors like production levels, weather conditions, and disease risks.
Energy companies, including Vietnam National Petroleum Group and Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, are required to ensure uninterrupted fuel supplies throughout the holiday season.
The ministry has also instructed distributors to participate in market stabilization programs, stimulate consumer demand, and strengthen supply-demand connections to maintain consistent access to essential goods.
