National Center of Criminal Records leader detained on bribe taking

HCMC – Hoang Quoc Hung, director of the National Center of Criminal Records, has been arrested on alleged charges of taking bribes to issue criminal record certificates, according to the Ministry of Public Security.

Luong Nhan Hoa, deputy director of the National Center of Criminal Records, and Nguyen Dinh Canh, deputy head of the General Administration Department of the center, are also in custody on the same charges.

Nguyen Xuan Tho, representative of the transaction office of Vicco Law Company Limited, and Nguyen Thi Ngoc, a specialist from the Administrative Violations Division under the Hanoi Department of Justice, have been arrested on alleged charges of giving bribes.

The Ministry of Public Security announced on July 21 that charges have been filed against these individuals for their involvement in the case of facilitating illegal stay in Vietnam, counterfeiting seals and documents, as well as giving and taking bribes.

The arrests were part of the investigation into foreigners staying illegally in Vietnam, and wrongdoing at the National Center of Criminal Records, the Departments of Labor, Invalids, and Social Affairs in Dong Nai and Long An provinces, as well as some other provinces and cities.
