New Covid infections rise by nearly 14,000 cases

HCMC – The Ministry of Health reported 13,972 fresh Covid cases this evening, November 30, including six imported cases and 13,966 locally-infected ones, up 208 domestic cases day-on-day.

The new domestic infections were found in 62 provinces and cities, with the source of transmission of more than 7,500 cases remaining unknown.

HCMC took the lead with 1,497 cases, followed by Can Tho with 981 cases, Ba Ria-Vung Tau with 860 cases, Tay Ninh with 727 cases, and Soc Trang with 714 cases. Also, 23 other localities each saw a triple-digit figure in case numbers, including Binh Duong, Dong Thap, and Binh Thuan.

On the same day, more than 14,600 coronavirus patients were discharged from hospital after recovering from the disease while 197 other patients died, raising the country’s total recoveries and fatalities to over 989,300 cases and 25,200 cases, respectively.

As for the Covid vaccination incidents for children, a 12-year-old boy residing in Binh Phuoc Province’s Dong Phu District died this morning after he received a Pfizer Covid-19 vaccine shot yesterday afternoon, November 29.

According to the Binh Phuoc Province Health Department, the boy was taken to a local hospital for emergency treatment after developing symptoms of dizziness, stomachache, and bowel movements last night. He was then transferred to a hospital in HCMC for further treatment. The boy died later.

The provincial Health Department has chaired a meeting to clarify whether his death was linked to the vaccine or not.

In related news, many localities in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau today began administering the Pfizer vaccine to children aged 12-14. Yesterday, Ba Ria City, Long Dien and Dat Do districts in the province had inoculated children in this age group. The province has more than 58,600 children aged 12-14 that are subject to the vaccination campaign.

In Daklak province, the local health authority today vaccinated 64,000 high school students and those studying at vocational schools. The local health authority planned to vaccinate 126,0000 secondary school students after inoculating high school ones.

In the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long, Nguyen Thanh Can, chairman of the government of Binh Minh Town, released an announcement yesterday on the implementation of anti-Covid measures for areas at extremely high risk of transmission.

Accordingly, the town decided to suspend non-essential services starting today, including karaoke and massage parlors, resorts, indoor and outdoor activities. Also, street vendors and lottery ticket sellers are subject to the suspension.

Other service businesses, shopping malls, mini supermarkets, and convenience stores remain operational but must offer delivery services. Besides, eateries are required to offer take-away services only.

Further, local residents commuting to and from areas with different risks of Covid transmission are asked to follow regulations on Covid vaccination, testing, quarantine, and health declarations.

In Bac Ninh Province, local people are banned from venturing out from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. starting December 1, except for emergencies. This move is part of the northern province’s plan to intensify anti-Covid measures from December 1 to 10 to cope with the complicated developments of the pandemic, according to Vuong Quoc Tuan, standing vice chairman of the provincial government.

Bac Ninh will also suspend non-essential services including karaoke and massage parlors, bars, gyms, yoga studios, game shops, wedding parties, and dine-in services.
