HCMC – The HCMC Department of Transport has announced a blockage of the Nguyen Huu Canh overpass, Binh Thanh District, from September 29 so it can be fixed after an underground prestressed cable broke recently.

The Transportation Works Construction Investment Project Management Authority, the managing unit of the overpass, has come up with a preliminary repair plan.

This unit will stretch a horizontal cable between two bridge abutments where the breakage occurred, filling the pipe with cement mortar and concrete. At the same time, the unit will start working on fixing the bridge deck, balcony and expansion joint on the bridge deck.

The plan is yet to be finalized as it is being reviewed by the relevant authorities, according to the unit.

The underground prestressed cable of the main span of the Nguyen Huu Canh overpass was found broken during the construction of a sewer system as part of the project to repair Nguyen Huu Canh Street.

Put into use since 2002, the Nguyen Huu Canh overpass has subtained many fractures, with the most recent fixing in 2016 costing over VND12 billion.
