HCMC – The elevated section of the Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line in Hanoi is scheduled to start operations tomorrow, August 8, with free rides available for the first 15 days, according to local media reports.
The Hanoi Metropolitan Railway Management Board (MRB) said on August 6 that trains will start running at 8 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, and from 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. on subsequent days, with trains arriving every 10 minutes.
After two weeks of free rides, Hanoi Metro will officially start selling tickets. The fare for the entire route from Nhon to Cau Giay is expected to be VND12,000, and the daily pass will be VND24,000. This fare is lower than that of the Cat Linh-Ha Dong line due to the shorter length of the route.
Ticket prices may change after the project completes the remaining four kilometers of underground track.
Nguyen Cao Minh, director of the MRB, said that the entire elevated section from Nhon Station to Cau Giay Station has been completed, including construction, installation, and trial operations. The inspection process is also finished, and the system is ready for commercial operation.
For the underground section, the overall progress is 43.50% completed. According to the plan, tunnel boring and installation will be completed by November 2025, and the entire underground part of the project is expected to be finished by December 2027.
The Nhon-Hanoi Station metro line comprises an 8.5-kilometer-long elevated section and a four-kilometer underground section.
The elevated section consists of eight stations, spanning over eight kilometers from Nhon Station in Bac Tu Liem District to Cau Giay Station. After 14 years of construction, the operation of this urban railway line is highly anticipated by Hanoi residents.
