No fresh Covid-19 cases announced Sunday morning

HCMC – Vietnam has not recorded new coronavirus infections this morning, August 23, keeping the country’s tally at 1,014, confirmed the Health Ministry.

The total infections included 672 locally-transmitted cases, with 532 cases linked to the coronavirus hotspot in Danang since July 25. Besides, 563 Covid-19 patients have fully recovered and were discharged from hospital, while 424 others are under treatment. The country has also recorded 26 fatalities caused by the novel coronavirus so far.

More than 77,300 people who had close contact with Covid-19 patients or returned to Vietnam from pandemic-hit regions are being put in quarantine.

Among patients under treatment nationwide, 40 have tested negative for the virus once, 49 negative twice and 41 negative three times, according to the ministry’s national committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.
