HCMC – The North-South rail line through Quang Tri Province reopened on October 29 after a two-day suspension caused by storm-induced flooding, according to local media.

Vietnam Railways Corporation reported that Binh Tri Thien Railway JSC and railway operators mobilized hundreds of workers and heavy machinery to repair the tracks and clear landslides in the affected areas.

By late afternoon on October 29, repairs to the Sa Lung-Tien An railway section were mostly complete. A freight train was used to test the line, and by 5 p.m., passenger services resumed with a temporary speed limit of 5 km/h in the repaired area.

Typhoon Trami, which struck on October 27, displaced two sections of the track over a 1.3-kilometer stretch, shifting them by up to 3.9 meters downstream. The incident disrupted travel for thousands of passengers, leaving them stranded as repairs took place.

In response, Hanoi and Saigon Railways arranged alternative transport for 4,574 passengers from 17 delayed trains, providing food and beverages during the wait.
