HCMC – The cold spell in northern Vietnam is forecast to continue, with certain areas facing extremely low temperatures and sporadic light rain.

Temperatures in the region today, February 26, are hovering between 15 and 18 degrees Celsius. However, some parts have temperatures below 15 degrees Celsius, with the upland enduring temperatures of below 8 degrees Celsius.

As the cold air mass strengthens, temperatures in northern Vietnam could drop even further from this evening onwards.

On February 27, northeastern provinces and cities are expected to brace for intense cold, with temperatures in highland areas plummeting to below 8 degrees Celsius. In Hanoi, temperatures are expected to fluctuate between 11 and 14 degrees Celsius, while mountainous regions could experience temperatures ranging from 8 to 11 degrees Celsius.

Light rain is anticipated in some areas of the northern and north-central regions starting tomorrow.

Another cold air mass is forecast to sweep across northern Vietnam over the weekend, on March 1-2, ushering in bitter cold and sporadic light rain across the region.
