HCMC – Residents can apply online for chip-based passports and opt to receive them via mail without needing to work in person with the immigration authorities for the procedure.
According to the Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security, the whole process, including filing documents and fee payment, can be done online, reported the Vietnam News Agency.
Residents can access the national public service portal at dichvucong.gov.vn for further information about the detailed procedure.
The online service is convenient for residents as it saves time and prevents fraud.
Besides, Vietnam Post will apply technology to shorten delivery time and increase the confidentiality of client information.
Statistics showed that as of March 2023, Vietnam Post had delivered over 300,000 passports to addresses designated by residents.
