HCMC – More than 880,000 stock accounts at MB Securities JSC were closed in October and November, according to data from the Vietnam Securities Depository and Clearing Corporation (VSDC).
In November alone, over 148,000 new securities trading accounts were opened while nearly 341,400 accounts were closed, with around 339,960 of them at MB Securities JSC.
In October, nearly 545,400 securities trading accounts were closed, with an overwhelming 543,700 of them coming from MB Securities, accounting for 99.7%.
This means that over 880,000 accounts at MB Securities were deactivated over the course of two months.
MB Securities said that it is currently in the process of reviewing the list of securities trading accounts and proactively closing accounts that were previously opened but have not conducted any transactions.
As of November 30, the total number of domestic securities trading accounts exceeded 7.2 million, with individual investors representing 99.8% of the total.
Foreign investors held nearly 45,200 accounts, with 40,600 of them belonging to individual investors and the remainder to institutional investors.
