Over VND225 billion allocated for rest areas along Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway

HCMC – The Vietnam Expressway Authority has approved a project to build rest areas along the Van Phong-Nha Trang Expressway with an investment of over VND225 billion.

This investment will fund the construction of two rest areas covering a total area of eight hectares to improve infrastructure facilities on the North-South Expressway.

The rest areas will be located at Km334+900 in Ninh Binh Commune, Ninh Hoa District, Khanh Hoa Province. One rest area will occupy 42,540 square meters on the right side of the road, while the other will span 35,960 square meters on the left.

The facilities will include parking lot, temporary lodging for drivers, sanitation facilities, and information desks. Additionally, they will offer food and beverage services, retail shops, fuel stations, electric vehicle charging points, and vehicle maintenance workshops.

The project budget includes around VND193.9 billion for construction and VND31.3 billion for land clearance and resettlement. The funding will come from the investor’s capital and other legal financial sources.

The project is expected to take 12 months to complete. Once completed, the rest areas will operate for 25 years and 10 months.

Project Management Unit 7 of the Ministry of Transport will oversee a domestic bidding process in the second quarter of 2024 to select an investor.

The Van Phong-Nha Trang section is part of the larger North-South Expressway project, which spans 52.5 kilometers from the southern entrance of the Co Ma Tunnel in Van Ninh District to Ninh Hoa Town in Khanh Hoa Province. The expressway is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.
