HCMC – The Phan Thiet Airport project in the south-central province of Binh Thuan is expected to be operational next year for military purposes, according to the local authority.
Binh Thuan Province is seeking new investors to carry out the airport’s components that serve civil purposes, Le Ngoc Tien, director of the Department of Planning and Investment, said at a press conference on the socio-economic performance of the province on August 7.
The military part of the airport is progressing according to schedule, and the runway can be completed by September this year.
Covering an area of 543 hectares, the airport will serve both military and civil purposes. The Ministry of Defense is responsible for the military components, while the civil aviation parts fall under the authority of the Binh Thuan People’s Committee.
Construction on the project began in early 2015 but was temporarily halted. However, in April 2021, work on the project resumed.
