HCMC – Serious traffic congestion occurred on the newly-built Phan Thiet-Dau Giay Expressway, the direction from Dong Nai to Binh Thuan, this morning, September 1, due to the sudden increase in traffic volume.

Long queues of vehicles snarled on the two-kilometer section of the expressway, from the intersection with the HCMC-Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway and the toll station in Cam My District, Dong Nai Province.

The escalation in traffic was attributed to the sudden influx of vehicles as holidaymakers today have started traveling on the first day of the National Day holiday lasting from September 1 to 4.

The toll station for this expressway has only two lanes on each side, leading to an overwhelming situation.

National Highway 1 also saw an upsurge in traffic volume during the morning hours. Specifically, the segment traversing Binh Minh Commune, Trang Bom District, encountered a substantial traffic snarl spanning several kilometers.

Meanwhile, National Highways 51, 20, and 56 passing through the Dong Nai area
had relatively heavy traffic, but traffic congestion had not occurred yet, according to local media.
