HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh today, December 28, inspected the progress of the Ca Mau–Dat Mui expressway and other infrastructure projects leading to Hon Khoai Island.

The road and bridge leading to Hon Khoai Island will have a total length of about 18 kilometers long and four lanes. With a maximum speed of 80 km per hour, the project will need a total of VND 25.7 trillion.

The project is being developed alongside the 80-kilometer Ca Mau–Dat Mui expressway and the Hon Khoai dual-use general port, which got off the ground in mid-August and is scheduled for completion by the end of 2028. Once completed, the projects will connect the North–South axis to the southernmost point of the country, supporting marine economic development in tandem with national defense and security.

To date, site clearance for the projects has been largely completed, with more than 1,600 households handing over over 700 hectares of land. Contractors have mobilized more than 2,000 managers, engineers and workers, along with nearly 1,000 pieces of equipment and machinery. Disbursed capital has reached VND14 trillion and is expected to rise to VND15 trillion by year-end.

PM Chinh told the Ministry of National Defense to mobilize maximum forces, vehicles and machinery and apply modern construction solutions. Leaders of construction units and local authorities must be regularly present on site to promptly resolve difficulties and ensure adequate living conditions for officers, soldiers and workers.
