HCMC – Poland is aiming to increase exports of agricultural and food products to Vietnam, citing the country’s fast-growing economy and rising consumer demand.

At a press conference in HCMC on August 7, the Polish Embassy, Investment and Trade Agency, and Chamber of Commerce introduced the “Tasteful Europe – Tradition and Quality” campaign. The event was part of Poland’s ongoing efforts to promote food and beverage exports and build international partnerships.

Around 40 Polish companies took part, offering pork, beef, apples, and processed food products. Organizers said they were seeking local distributors and trade partners.

Polish Ambassador Joanna Skoczek said the two countries have had diplomatic relations for 75 years. She noted that bilateral trade has grown steadily, with food exports playing a significant role.

Jan Szopinski, deputy head of Poland’s National Agricultural Support Centre, said the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement has helped expand trade. Polish food exports to Vietnam rose from 66 million euros to 200 million euros over the past five years.

Despite this growth, Szopinski acknowledged that trade remains imbalanced, with Vietnam exporting significantly more to Poland.

He added that Poland is targeting more exports of meat, dairy items, and fruit, particularly apples, while also importing Vietnamese products such as coffee, pepper, and rice.

According to the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Vietnam’s trade with Poland reached US$3.4 billion in 2024, up 22% from a year earlier. Vietnam exported more than US$3 billion worth of goods, including coffee, textiles, wood products, and footwear. Imports from Poland stood at nearly US$400 million.

In the first seven months of this year, bilateral trade reached US$2.2 billion, up 14% year-on-year. Vietnam’s exports made up over US$1.9 billion of the total.
