Entering the North American market provides immense opportunities for Vietnamese businesses, but it also comes with significant challenges. Rather than broad marketing approaches, experts advise focusing on finding the right niche and targeting specific customer groups. This guidance was highlighted at the seminar “Vietnamese Businesses Entering the North American Market – Navigating Unforeseen Challenges” on December 19. Hosted by the Saigon Times Group and the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, the event was part of the HCMC Brand Awards program. Nguyen Ngoc Tram, CEO of the U.S.-based IPGEEKLAB and senior advisor to the intellectual property expert committee at the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA), shared practical strategies with participants. A lucrative but demanding market North America has become a vital destination for Vietnamese exports, accounting for nearly one-third of Vietnam’s total export value in recent years. In 2023, exports to the U.S. exceeded US$97 billion. From January to November 2024, this figure rose to nearly US$109 billion, according to the General Statistics Office.
