HCMC – The northern province of Quang Ninh looks to serve 14 million tourists, including two million foreigners, and earn some VND27 trillion from tourism in 2023.

Quang Ninh’s Mong Cai City alone has set a goal to welcome around 1.5 million tourists, up 50% over the figure in 2022, according to Pham Thi Oanh, head of the Mong Cai Culture and Information Department.

Dong Trieu Town, a locality known for its spiritual tourism, traditional culture and historic sites, aims to welcome 800,000 tourists in 2023.

The authority of Quang Ninh Province will continue taking a range of measures to boost the city’s tourism market, with a focus on projects for restoring Quang Ninh’s tourism industry by 2025, sustainable community tourism development and a master plan for marine tourism management in Ha Long Bay, Van Don and Co To.

The province has sought to improve tourism marketing and develop more tourism products, especially those associated with the heritage and natural wonders of Ha Long Bay, Bai Tu Long Bay, and other destinations in the province.

The Quang Ninh People’s Committee has directed localities to focus on attracting potential investors to develop tourism products, high-class resorts, cuisine areas and food courts.

Quang Ninh was one of the very first localities to open its doors to tourists in 2022, attracting around 11.6 million visitors. Among them, the province served over 300,000 foreigners, up 508%, and 11.2 million domestic tourists, up 160.6% compared to 2021 when the nation was hit hard by Covid-19.

Quang Ninh’s total tourism revenue in 2022 was estimated at over VNS22.5 trillion, nearly doubling the figure in 2021.
