HCMC – Hanoi Railway Transport JSC on July 14 inaugurated a refrigerated container train that transports agricultural products from Song Than Station in Binh Duong Province to Dong Dang Station in Lang Son Province for transshipment to China.
The train, spanning 325 meters, has a load capacity of around 900 tons and consists of 21 cars capable of handling 40-feet high containers. The current transport duration for the entire route is 72 hours, but it will be further reduced upon completion of the railway renovation.
The launch of the refrigerated container train from Song Than to Dong Dang stations aims to expand the transportation share, enhance service quality, and provide customers with reasonable transportation fees. The train primarily carries agro-products and high-quality goods that require proper preservation.
Situated near National Highway 1A on the border of HCMC, Song Than station in Di An City, Binh Duong Province enjoys convenient access to numerous neighboring provinces. With its international intermodal code, Song Than Station is poised to become a pivotal logistics hub in the southern region.
The Song Than international intermodal station currently has a total transportation capacity of 1.27 million tons per year, which is projected to increase to 2.5 million tons by 2025.
The station will facilitate import-export procedures for enterprises, leading to a significant reduction in transport duration compared to traditional seaway methods, thereby lowering logistics costs.
