Road accident leaves HCMC’s permanent vice chairman dead

HCMC – The permanent vice chairman of HCMC, Le Hoa Binh, died in a car accident that happened early this morning on an expressway linking HCMC and the Mekong Delta, according to Tuoi Tre newspaper.

The newspaper quoted the director of the Long An Province Department of Health as confirming this afternoon that Binh passed away at the Long An General Hospital while he was receiving emergency medical attention.

Binh was traveling together with his driver and another person from HCMC to a Mekong Delta province when their 7-seater Toyota Land Cruiser car got punctured and overturned on the HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway at around 7:45.

The accident happened when they reached Thanh Duc Commune, Ben Luc District, Long An Province.

The driver, whom the media center identified as Nguyen Quang Vinh, 33, and the other passenger, named Duong Tan Truoc, 41, were also injured.
