Nestled among the mountains of Minh Hoa District in Quang Binh Province, Ruc Mon Cave is a hidden natural gem that captivates visitors with its mysterious beauty. The cave remains largely undeveloped for tourism, allowing it to retain its pristine wilderness.
Ruc Mon Cave stretches over 2,860 meters from Trung Hoa to Hoa Son communes in Minh Hoa District, with a height of about 50 meters. To reach the cave, travelers must walk along a narrow path surrounded by fields of corn and peanuts cultivated by local farmers. In front of the cave lies a wide, emerald-green lake with cool water that remains refreshing throughout the year.
The cave is surrounded by towering limestone mountains, formed hundreds of millions of years ago. Before entering, visitors can take in the majestic mountain scenery, where large trees and rare animals thrive in the rugged limestone landscape around Ruc Mon Cave.
Upon reaching the cave entrance, visitors will find it slightly narrow, but as they venture deeper, the cave reveals its grandeur. The interior becomes increasingly spacious and magnificent, showcasing the cave’s natural beauty.
Ruc Mon Cave is divided into two distinct sections: the wet cave and the dry cave. The wet cave features cool, crystal-clear subterranean rivers where visitors can swim, kayak, or simply relax in the refreshing water, surrounded by fish. In contrast, the dry cave is often referred to as a “stalactite museum” due to its vast array of stalactites in different shapes, sizes, and quantities. The soft glow from the cave’s lighting system highlights the stalactites, making them appear even more dazzling and radiant.

The best time to explore the cave is from March to October, when the weather is favorable with plenty of sunshine and minimal rain. During this period, the underground rivers inside the cave are clear and refreshingly cool.
