HCMC – The “Run now to fight nCoV” virtual race has now been launched with multiple aims to rally sportsmanship, improve the participants’ health, and raise funds to support the so-called white-coat warriors, referring to doctors, nurses, and medical staff fighting the pandemic on the front lines.

This is an optional race with distances of 10km, 21km, 42km, 100km, 150km, 200km, and 250km accumulated over a period of time.  It is organized by Vrun with Sai Gon Tiep Thi serving as the official media sponsor.

To enter the race, runners are advised to register at https://vrun.vn/races/race-detail/run-ncov and follow the instructions therein.

Though called a virtual race, it is an event that requires the participants to complete physical distances as registered. However, it allows runners to run anywhere and anytime they want within the event’s timeframe from August 5 to September 14, 2020.

The participants will be required to download the Strava mobile app to record and synchronize daily running results or manually type in their results on the website.

Every runner who completes the registered distance will receive a medal and an e-certificate with his or her name and performance results indicated.

For each person registered, the organizers will set aside VND30,000 for the Covid-19 Prevention Fund of the Ministry of Health. Athletes can also make an additional donation on the VRun payment portal.

On the first day of registration, there were 22 athletes registering with a raised amount of VND2.04 million.
