Vietnam’s Covid-19 death toll rises to 11

HCMC – A 55-year-old resident in Danang succumbed to Covid-19 this afternoon, August 9, becoming Vietnam’s 11th Covid-19 death, confirmed the Health Ministry.

She died of the Covid-19-related complication of acute respiratory distress syndrome, multiorgan dysfunction syndrome, and gastrointestinal bleeding. She had been suffering from hypertension.

On July 28, she was admitted to Hoan My General Hospital in Danang and tested positive for the novel coronavirus the following day.

Her health condition started worsening on July 30 and she was transferred to the Hue Central General Hospital in the neighboring province of Thua Thien-Hue, at which she was put under extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and received continuous blood purification. She was pronounced dead at 12 p.m. today.
