Recently, as typhoon Yagi struck northern Vietnam, leaving a trail of destruction, Sharp Vietnam responded promptly by providing much-needed relief aid to help affected people quickly return to normal life. For Sharp, Vietnam is one of the key countries for ongoing business investment, alongside fulfilling its corporate social responsibility (CSR) commitments.
Efforts for Vietnamese families
Over the years, Sharp has actively engaged in CSR efforts to help Vietnamese families address issues like air pollution, food safety, and health. In specific situations, however, Sharp Vietnam stands ready to actively support the community.
Recently, in partnership with the Saigon Times Group and electronics retailer Dien May Xanh, Sharp participated in the “Saigon Times – Great Circle – Helping Students Get Back to School Post Storm” program” program by donating 4,600 rice cookers worth a total of over VND3 billion to students at 22 schools across Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, and Lao Cai provinces, as well as to flood-affected families. This timely support helped restore daily life for the community.
Immediately after typhoon Yagi, Sharp launched the “Customer Support – Post Yagi 2024 Recovery Assistance” program, providing repair and warranty services for household appliances such as refrigerators, washing machines and air conditioners across 25 northern provinces.
Beyond urgent community support, Sharp shows its CSR commitment through health-focused initiatives, such as donating air purifiers to HCMC Children’s Hospital on World Asthma Day and providing anti-droplet masks and air purifiers to Le Van Viet and Le Van Thinh Hospitals in HCMC to reduce disease transmission.
Compared to previous years, Sharp’s CSR efforts have seen a notable increase in both volume and value, said Mr. Chiyoda Yuki, General Director of Sharp Electronics Vietnam.
CSR as a long-term strategy
According to Sharp Vietnam, CSR initiatives are integral to the company’s business operations. The company aims to improve consumers’ quality of life by offering quality household products and expressing corporate responsibility through charitable and sponsorship programs.
“That’s why when we carry out these programs, it brings me great joy and meaning to contribute to this country where I live and work,” said Mr. Chiyoda Yuki.
The company is active Vietnam in business areas like household appliances, office solutions, and manufacturing. Despite some financial challenges stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic, Sharp still sees Vietnam as a crucial market and continues to invest in both business operations and CSR activities.
In performing its CSR initiatives, Sharp always communicates this message of responsibility to employees and partners, and company representatives noted that these programs have received positive feedback. This demonstrates the significant interest of society in impactful initiatives.
“Our team believes that CSR activities will bring joy to the Vietnamese people and contribute to enhancing Sharp’s brand image among younger generations, helping to improve not only brand recognition but also affinity for Sharp,” added the Sharp Vietnam leader.
