Singapore announces vaccinated travel lane for Vietnam

Must read

HCMC – Singapore announced the vaccinated travel lane (VTL) for Vietnam on March 4, which will restore quarantine-free travel between the two countries from March 16.

This is one of the outcomes of State President Nguyen Xuan Phuc’s visit to Singapore from February 24 to 26, expected to boost the post-pandemic recovery of both countries.

“From March 15, Vietnam plans to reopen its borders for international tourism. With the launch of the VTL from Vietnam, we will restore two-way quarantine-free travel with Vietnam, which was a popular destination for many Singaporeans pre-Covid,” the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore said.

Travelers from Vietnam may enter Singapore under the VTL on or after March 16. Vaccinated Travel Pass (VTP) applications for Vietnam will open on March 13.

Short-term visitors and work permit holders eligible to travel on the VTL must apply for a VTP to enter Singapore under the VTL.

Fully vaccinated Singapore citizens, permanent residents, all other long-term pass holders, In-Principle Approval holders, and children aged 12 years and below do not need to apply for a VTP to enter Singapore under the VTL.

The VTL has allowed Singapore to reopen its borders safely while managing public health risks. Under the VTL, fully vaccinated travelers from VTL countries or regions may enter Singapore without quarantine and only need to undergo Covid testing. Since September 8, 2021, Singapore has established VTLs with 30 countries and regions.

All travelers entering Singapore under the VTL must comply with the prevailing VTL requirements stated under  https://safetravel.ica.gov.sg/vtl/requirements-and-process.

According to the “Demand of Singapore tourists to Vietnam” survey, 90% of Singaporean travelers said they are ready to travel to Vietnam as soon as international travel restrictions are lifted.

The survey was conducted by Changi Airport Group on thousands of passengers using services at the Changi International Airport.

Vietnam’s beautiful scenery, rich cultural and historical traditions, unique cuisine, and Vietnamese hospitality are the top reasons Singaporean travelers choose Vietnam.

The survey also showed that HCMC, Hanoi and Danang, which are the three major cities of Vietnam, are the tourists’ most favorite destinations in the country.
