HCMC – Binh Duong Province and Vietnam Railways have inaugurated an international intermodal transport route from Song Than railway station to China.

On October 5, the first train with 19 cars carrying nearly 500 tons of tapioca will depart from Song Than railway station for Henan Province, China.

Following the launch of these services, VNR will assess the possibility of increasing the train service frequency based on actual demand.

The Ministry of Transport is implementing projects to upgrade and modernize Song Than railway station. Upon completion, Song Than station is projected to boost its freight transport capacity to 3.5 million tons per year by 2025, making it one of the key stations in Vietnam’s railway system.

Binh Duong stands out for its remarkable economic development compared to other regions in the country. Its developed infrastructure has significantly enhanced investment attraction, especially for foreign-direct investment businesses.

The total trade value of businesses within the province currently ranks third in the country, with 40% of this revenue generated from trade with China, primarily conducted via seaways and roads.

Last year, Song Than railway station handled over 1.6 million tons of cargo including electronic and automotive spare parts, production materials, and products for industrial parks in Binh Duong, Dong Nai provinces, and HCMC.
