HCMC – The ASEAN Future Forum 2026, to be held in Hanoi on June 9 and 10, will focus on policy solutions to reshape growth models, harness emerging technologies, and strengthen ASEAN‘s economic resilience.

The forum is expected to contribute to the implementation of the ASEAN Community Vision 2045 while underscoring Vietnam’s increasingly active role in shaping regional policy discussions.

Against a backdrop of shifting global geopolitical and economic dynamics, the forum will explore ways for ASEAN to move to a higher stage of development through discussions on artificial intelligence (AI), energy security, and governance of emerging development models.

According to Ambassador Ton Thi Ngoc Huong, Permanent Representative to ASEAN, a key objective of the forum is to identify practical cooperation mechanisms that enable businesses and experts to participate more effectively in regional value chains while promoting inclusive, people-centered growth.

Policy recommendations emerging from the forum will be submitted to ASEAN leaders as reference materials for future policymaking processes.

In addition to economic issues, the forum will provide a platform for dialogue on political-security and socio-cultural matters, supporting a broader vision of peace and prosperity in Southeast Asia. It will bring together government officials, business leaders, academics, and young people to discuss opportunities for regional cooperation and development.

The agenda also includes a dialogue among Southeast Asian political parties, a city leaders’ conference, and a roundtable on the Mekong subregion, reflecting efforts to advance practical cooperation across multiple sectors.

Following the success of its previous editions, the forum has established itself as a prominent diplomatic initiative of Vietnam, attracting heads of state, government leaders, and senior officials from across the region.

This year’s event is expected to draw leaders from Laos, Cambodia, and Timor-Leste, along with senior policymakers and experts. The gathering highlights Vietnam’s increasingly proactive role 30 years after joining ASEAN and its commitment to strengthening the bloc’s centrality in the evolving regional architecture.
