HCMC – South Korea’s Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) will tighten inspections of food production and export facilities in Vietnam, with a focus on sugar-preserved products, according to food safety agency SPS Vietnam.
Within one year starting September 30, 2024, the MFDS will expand its inspection list to include food items previously found to violate regulations or that pose potential safety risks.
The inspections will target the use of synthetic organic colors in sugar-preserved food from seven Vietnamese manufacturing facilities.
To meet South Korean import requirements, Vietnamese businesses must obtain test reports from laboratories recognized by the MFDS, either domestically or internationally. The MFDS has urged Vietnamese exporters to strictly comply with South Korean food safety standards while offering support to improve food quality.
