HCMC – The VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange reversed course to gain steam albeit slightly today, December 30, supported by active performance of bluechips.
Closing the day, the benchmark index inched up 0.15 points, or 0.01%, from the session earlier, at 1,485.97, with 214 winners and 232 losers.
Over 747.8 million shares worth VND22 trillion changed hands, down 11% in volume and 13% in value, against the previous session. Block deals contributed VND929 billion to the total value.
The bluechip group made a strong gain, with securities firm SSI jumping by 5.9% and lender STB bouncing back.
Real estate company PDR, bank stocks VPB, ACB, TCB and MBB, and brewery SAB were in positive territory.
Many securities stocks, including APG, CTS, BSI, VIX, ORS and AGR, finished the day at their ceiling prices.
In the group of speculative stocks, construction firm ROS lost 5.6%, but took the lead by liquidity on the southern bourse with a matching volume of over 40 million shares.
However, many property and construction tickers such as HQC, DLG, LDG, LCG, FIT, HNG, TTF and QBS tumbled by over 3% each.
On the Hanoi Stock Exchange, the HNX-Index bounced back to end up 3.82 points, or 0.83%, against the day earlier, at 461.65.
Among securities stocks, ART shot up to its upper limit and was the most actively traded stock on the northern bourse with 11.7 million shares changing hands.
Other best performers were fuel distributor PVS, asset management corporation TVC and fertilizer firm LAS. Many coal stocks such as TDN, TVD, NBC and THT closed at their ceiling prices.
