HCMC – As the Lunar New Year, or Tet, approaches, major supermarket chains across the country have announced to extend their operating hours to meet the rising shopping demand in the lead up to the national holiday.
Lotte Mart will be closed on the first day of Tet, Febuary 10, but will reopen on the second lunar day with varying hours depending on location.
On the third day of Tet, all locations of the South Korean-invested store chain will return to normal hours.
KingFood Mart announced that it will close at 6:00 p.m. on Febuary 9, or the last day of the current lunar year, and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on the following day.
A representative of the GO! supermarket chain, formerly BigC, said their stores nationwide will be open until noon on Febuary 9 and resume operations two days later, or Feburay 11.
Vissan, a local food manufacturer and retailer, will close on the first day of Tet and resume normal operations on the second day.
The company will serve until 5:00 p.m. on the last day of the current lunar year, instead of the usual 11:00 a.m. closing time. Its stores will also be open longer during the holiday, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. on the peak days of Tet.
