The country’s gross national income (GNI) per capita in 2023 reached an estimated US$4,300. Vietnam has a real chance of becoming an upper-middle-income country in 2024, as per the World Bank’s classification. The development has become more deep-rooted, with expanded driving forces and improved growth quality. The role of science, technology, and innovation has been elevated. The country’s Global Innovation Index (GII) has risen two places from 2022, ranking 46th out of 132 economies, leading the group of nations with lower-middle-income levels.
