HCMC — The Vietnam Saigon Textile & Garment Industry Expo 2025 (SaigonTex 2025) and the Vietnam Saigon Fabric & Garment Accessories Expo 2025 (SaigonFabric 2025) opened in HCMC on April 9, attracting more than 1,100 exhibitors from 25 countries and territories.

Running through April 12, the event brings together companies from key textile and garment hubs, such as India, Bangladesh, Belgium, Portugal, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, the United States, the Netherlands, Pakistan, France, Singapore, Turkey, and Switzerland.

The events showcase nearly the entire textile and garment supply chain—from machinery and raw materials to fabrics and fashion accessories. National and regional pavilions are also on display, providing a platform for domestic and international businesses to strengthen trade ties.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Tran Ngoc Liem, director of the HCMC branch of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI-HCM), highlighted the vital role of the textile and garment industry in driving Vietnam’s trade growth and attracting foreign investment.

However, Liem noted that the industry continues to face considerable challenges, including labor shortages, fluctuating order volumes, stricter rules on material traceability under free trade agreements (FTAs), and the emergence of new trade barriers in traditional markets.

To navigate these hurdles, experts recommend that textile and garment businesses bolster supply chain linkages, invest in technology and automation, transition to greener production practices—from raw materials to energy sources—and pursue deeper integration into the global value chain.
