HCMC – Thai conglomerate SCG has acquired an additional 30% stake in Duy Tan Plastics, taking full ownership of the leading rigid plastic packaging manufacturer in Vietnam.

The transaction was finalized in the first week of June through its subsidiary, SCGP Rigid Packaging Solutions (SCGPRPS), at a value of around VND2.8 trillion.

In 2021, SCG spent around VND6.4 trillion acquiring a 70% stake in Duy Tan Plastics.

SCG’s successive acquisitions of packaging and plastic companies in Vietnam, such as Binh Minh Plastics, Batico, Starprint and Duy Tan, reflect its long-term strategy to capture market share and strengthen its regional packaging ecosystem.

To date, SCG operates more than 27 subsidiaries in Vietnam, with total investments amounting to several billion U.S. dollars.

Duy Tan Plastics is a well-established brand in Vietnam’s household plastic and packaging sector, with a broad customer network both domestically and internationally.

Founded in 1987, the firm has grown from a small production facility into one of Vietnam’s largest plastic manufacturers, operating five factories in the southern region.

The company supplies packaging for numerous multinational corporations such as Unilever, Nestlé, Castrol, and Sanofi, with its products present in over 60 countries and territories worldwide.
