HCMC – The HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), held an award ceremony to honor 13 enterprises for their exceptional achievements in energy efficiency.
The Energy Efficiency Award 2023 ceremony occurred on September 7 at the Pullman Saigon Center Hotel in District 1. It was attended by officials from the department, USAID representatives, personnel from the U.S. Consulate General, government agency representatives, and members of the business community.
Launched on May 31, 2023, the award aimed to highlight the role of individuals and businesses in developing energy-saving solutions, clean energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
To be eligible for the Energy Efficiency Award (EEA), enterprises must be key energy-consuming businesses operating in HCMC for over three years and compliant with Vietnamese laws and regulations.
Over the past two months, the organizers reached out to more than 300 enterprises and received 18 applications featuring effective energy solutions. After a rigorous selection process, the top 13 enterprises with remarkable achievements in energy saving and efficiency in 2023 were identified.
Winners of the award will receive certificates from USAID and the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade, recognizing their contributions to the sustainable development of HCMC. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to showcase and promote their best energy practices at forums related to energy efficiency.
A representative from the HCMC Department of Industry and Trade emphasized that the award plays a vital role in realizing the energy-saving and efficiency goals outlined in the city’s plan for 2021-2025.
