Thousands throng downtown HCMC to enjoy April 30 festivities

HCMC – In the days leading up to the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the south and the reunification of the nation (April 30, 1975 – April 30, 2025), thousands of people flocked to the Bach Dang Wharf and Nguyen Hue Walking Street in District 1, HCMC on the evening of April 26 to enjoy festivities including fireworks, drone performances, 3D Mapping shows, and sports activities on the Saigon River.
From late afternoon, the central areas around the Bach Dang Wharf and Nguyen Hue are packed with vehicles and excited crowds
Many groups of friends and families set up picnic-style “camps” along the wharf, bring food and drinks to enjoy while waiting for the night’s festivities. Adding to the festive spirit, many people wear vibrant red shirts emblazoned with the yellow star of Vietnam’s national flag
The Saigon River buzzes with energy as spectators enjoy festive sports performances

Among the highlights is an eye-catching jetboard show, where athletes soar over the water while igniting sparkling pyrotechnics, adding dramatic flair to the evening’s celebrations

It suddenly rains in downtown HCMC as crowds gather to wait for the fireworks display. By 8:00 p.m., the rain stops and people return to the Bach Dang Wharf Park to secure good spots for the show.
At 9:30 p.m., fireworks burst brightly over the Saigon River, drawing cheers and applause from the crowd of revelers

Many use their phones to film and capture the moment the fireworks light up the sky
