HCMC – Vietnam’s National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man today, December 5, proposed Japan’s Tokyu Group assist the southern province of Binh Duong in urban railway development projects and expanding investments in the province and elsewhere in the country.

The proposal came during a meeting with Tokyu Chairman Nomoto Hirofumi in Japan, as part of Man’s official visit to the Northeast Asian country.

At the meeting, Hirofumi discussed Tokyu’s collaboration with its Vietnamese partner Becamex in developing urban infrastructure in Binh Duong and expressed interest in investment expansion in the country.

Man highlighted the strategic importance of Vietnam-Japan ties, noting Japan’s US$77.4 billion in registered investments across over 5,400 projects as of October. He emphasized the need for more urban infrastructure development and green city initiatives.

Tokyu, a major Japanese corporation operating in sectors such as transportation, retail, and urban development, entered Vietnam in 2012 through its joint venture Becamex Tokyu, which focuses on real estate projects in Binh Duong.

Man’s working trip to Japan, which ends on December 7, aims to strengthen parliamentary cooperation and reaffirm Vietnam’s commitment to its comprehensive strategic partnership with Japan.
