HCMC – The Vietnam Expressway Development Investment Corporation (VEC) has announced plans to adjust up tolls on four expressways under its management, starting next month.
Tolls on Cau Gie – Ninh Binh and Danang – Quang Ngai expressways will rise by 12%, from VND1,500 to VND1,680 per kilometer. Meanwhile, the rate on the HCMC – Long Thanh – Dau Giay expressway will increase by 5%, from VND2,000 to VND2,100 per kilometer.
VEC will revise up the toll on the Noi Bai – Lao Cai expressway by 12%, from VND1,500 to VND1,680 per kilometer on the section from Noi Bai to Yen Bai, and from VND1,000 to VND1,120 per kilometer on the section from Yen Bai to Lao Cai.
VEC said that tolls on the expressways which it is operating will be revised up by 12% every three years. However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the scheduled expressway toll hikes have been suspended in recent years at the request of the prime minister.
Previously, the Ministry of Transport approved toll hikes for four expressways operated by VEC.
Since December 29, 2023, tolls on 41 build-operate-transfer (BOT) roads have edged up by 15% to 20%.
