HCMC – Some 6.2 million tourists visited Kien Giang Province in the first nine months of this year, exceeding 9.2% over the full-year plan, the Department of Tourism told the media.
Among some 6.2 million visitors, the number of international travelers totaled 26,154, reaching 63% of the year’s target.
The province’s tourism revenue amounted to VND7,738 billion in the January-September period, almost reaching the whole year’s target.
Phu Quoc Island welcomed over four million visitors, up 154% over the same period, exceeding 7.6% of the year’s plan. Total tourism revenue reached VND5,136 billion, up 61.8% over the same period, reaching 76% of the yearly plan.
Some eight of Kien Giang’s resorts and spas were named winners at the award ceremony of the World Travel Awards 2022 – Region: Asia & Oceania, the prestigious awards recognizing excellent units in the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.
They comprised New World Phu Quoc Resort, InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa with two awards, Regent Phu Quoc, Premier Village Phu Quoc Resort, Premier Residences Phu Quoc Emerald Bay and Aquatopia Water Park.
This remarkable result came from effective solutions to stimulate tourism, boost connectivity with other provinces and improve the quality of tourism products, especially in key tourist areas such as Phu Quoc Island.
The province has carried out some farm tours for international tourists from Thailand, India and the U.S., as well as some trade, investment and tourism forums to attract enterprises from Thailand.
Moreover, the authority has improved transport infrastructure in the province to facilitate tourism activities. Especially, the capacity of air travel, water and road transport has been enhanced to meet the travel needs of tourists.
