HCMC – HCMC has restricted traffic on 20 main streets on the evening of September 2 to ensure public safety during National Day festivities, the city’s Department of Transport announced.
The National Day holiday lasts four days, from Saturday, August 31, to Tuesday, September 3.
Fireworks will be launched at two locations: the Saigon River Tunnel area in Thu Duc City and the Dam Sen Park in District 11, from 9:00 p.m. to 9:15 pm. Nguyen Hue pedestrian street will host various cultural performances to commemorate National Day (September 2).
To manage crowds and prevent congestion, vehicles are banned from 20 streets in the city center between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. These streets include Nguyen Hue, Le Loi (from Dong Khoi to Pasteur), Dong Khoi (from Nguyen Du to Ton Duc Thang), Ton Duc Thang (from Nguyen Sieu to Vo Van Kiet), Nguyen Tat Thanh (from Khanh Hoi Bridge to Hoang Dieu), and Ham Nghi (from Ho Tung Mau to Ton Duc Thang).
Other affected streets include Hai Trieu, Ton That Thiep, Huynh Thuc Khang (from Ho Tung Mau to Nguyen Hue), Ly Tu Trong (from Pasteur to Hai Ba Trung), Le Thanh Ton (from Hai Ba Trung to Pasteur), Cong Truong Lam Son, Dong Du (from Hai Ba Trung to Dong Khoi), Nguyen Thiep (from Dong Khoi to Nguyen Hue), and Mac Thi Buoi (from Hai Ba Trung to Nguyen Hue).
Alongside the fireworks displays, the city will be organizing multiple other cultural and sporting activities, such as a traditional boat race on the Saigon River, an art program at 7:00 p.m. on September 2 on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street, and street light decorations.
