Transport minister set to leave office

The Saigon Times

Must read

HCMC – Minister of Transport Nguyen Van The will be leaving office when the National Assembly (NA) holds its next session next week.

The prime minister will present a formal request to the NA, the country’s legislature, to relieve Nguyen Van The of the post of transport minister for the 2021-2026 tenure.

According to a plan prepared by the NA Standing Committee for the upcoming NA session, the NA will elect a new auditor general to replace the incumbent, Tran Sy Thanh, who took up the post of Hanoi City chairman in July this year.

At the NA session expected to start on October 20 and end on November 15, the legislature will also hold a vote on the appointment of new health minister. The Government assigned Dao Hong Lan as acting health minister on July 15 after the NA removed Minister of Health Nguyen Thanh Long from the job on June 7 due to his alleged involvement in the Viet A Covid-19 test kit price gouging scandal.

The NA is set to complete the voting procedures within the second day of its meeting.
