The bilingual summer camp at the Vietnam Australia International School (VAS) attracts thousands of students each year, thanks not only to the school’s strong reputation in international education but also to the rich experiences and practical skills students gain throughout the summer.

At VAS, summer is about more than just recreation, academic reinforcement or developing a single skill. The school places a strong emphasis on creating opportunities for students to explore a wide range of interests and discover their strengths, helping them identify passions they can continue to nurture and develop in the future.

Under the theme “Innovating with Fun”, the VAS bilingual summer camp combines learning and exploration through a range of engaging and meaningful activities.

The summer programmes, which run through mid- to late July 2026, offer a range of options tailored to different age groups, including Discovery Lab Camp (ages 2-5), Ready for Grade 1 Camp, and Exploration Camp and English Intensive Camp for primary and secondary students.

What makes the VAS bilingual summer camp stand out?

One of the highlights of the Discovery Lab Camp is its hands-on, project-based learning approach, which integrates science, mathematics and language skills through engaging themes such as Space, Dinosaurs, Safari, Cities.

With a bilingual learning model that allocates 50% of instructional time to English and 50% to Vietnamese, children participate in group-based activities and explore new projects each week. The approach is designed to strengthen communication, critical thinking and learning skills while fostering natural bilingual proficiency from an early age.

For primary and secondary students, the Exploration Camp offers the opportunity to pursue interest-based projects across a wide range of fields, including technology, robotics, media, fashion, performing arts, sports and culinary arts. Students receive guidance from industry professionals, participate in field trips and hands-on learning experiences, and are encouraged to develop innovative solutions to real-world challenges related to their chosen area of study.

Students are guided through the full project development process, from research and ideation to the completion of a final product, helping them build critical thinking, creativity and problem-solving skills in a learning environment where 65% to 74% of instruction is delivered in English.

New additions to this year’s programme include Cambridge Checkpoint preparation activities for Grade 5 and Grade 8 students, as well as technology-based experiences such as the VR Amazing Race and Digital Diary projects. These activities are designed to help students explore the digital world while developing their content creation and digital literacy skills.

Meanwhile, the English Enhancement Summer Camp, with 85% of instruction delivered in English, is designed to strengthen students’ listening, speaking, reading and writing skills through the Smart English curriculum integrated with AI-powered learning tools. The programme aims to help students build confidence ahead of the new academic year and prepare for international learning pathways at VAS.

Learning and growing through field trips

Beyond project-based learning activities, students at the VAS summer camp also take part in sports, water sports, “Weekly Imagination Adventure” on Fridays and the Summer Fair festival. Featuring performing arts showcases, sports competitions and creative games, these activities provide students with opportunities to build confidence, express themselves and shine on stage.

A key highlight of the programme is its age-specific field trips, with students joining an excursion every two weeks to popular educational and recreational destinations such as Vietopia, TiniWorld, Kawazo, STEM House, Suoi Tien and Ben Tre. Students from Grade 5 onwards can also take part in a four-day, three-night camp experience in Binh Chau, Ho Tram and Vung Tau.

These excursions offer more than just recreational experiences. They provide opportunities for students to build friendships, strengthen social skills and broaden their understanding of the world around them, while creating lasting memories with teachers and classmates throughout their school years.

The VAS Primary and Secondary Summer Camp will run until July 17, 2026, while the Discovery Lab Camp will continue through July 31.

Several excursions to destinations including Kawazo, Suoi Tien, Vietopia and Ben Tre are still scheduled for the final weeks of the programme. Parents can enroll their children for at least two weeks, allowing them to take part in one of the camp’s educational and recreational field trips.
