HCMC – Two local residents of Danang City and Quang Ngai Province have been confirmed to be infected with Covid-19 from community transmission, with the source of transmission remaining unknown, taking Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally to 420 cases by Sunday evening.
The two patients are linked to Hospital C Danang, which was put on a 14-day lockdown starting July 14 after the 416th case was confirmed, according to the Health Ministry.
The patient in Quang Ngai, tagged as the 419th case, visited Danang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital on July 14 to take care of his older brother who was under medical treatment there. Three days later, he returned to Quang Ngai, boarding the same coach as several people who were coming back to this central province from Hospital C Danang.
On July 20, this 17-year-old patient revisited Danang Orthopedic and Rehabilitation Hospital and had a fever. On July 22, he went to Quang Ngai City General Hospital for a health check after he returned home from Danang by train and developed symptoms such as fever and shortness of breath.
He is being quarantined and treated at Binh Son Medical Center in Quang Ngai.
As for the 420th patient, she is a 71-year-old resident of Danang’s Hai Chau District. She had a fever and chest pain on July 12 and was admitted to Hospital C Danang on July 22. She is under quarantine and treatment at the hospital.
With the two latest additions, Vietnam’s Covid-19 infections have reached 420 with 365 recoveries. No deaths due to the novel coronavirus were reported in the country.
