HCMC – Vietnam has made progress in the Green Future Index 2023, climbing from its previous 56th position to a commendable 53rd place this year.

The assessment looked into 76 countries and territories, evaluating their commitments to sustainable development and carbon dioxide emissions reductions in the foreseeable future.

The Green Future Index serves as a measure of how effectively an economy is transitioning towards cleaner energy sources, sustainable industries, agriculture, and environmentally conscious societies. It takes into account investments in renewable energy, advancements in clean innovation, and the implementation of eco-friendly policies.

Within the ASEAN region, Vietnam has secured the fourth position in the Green Future Index 2023 behind Singapore, the Philippines, and Indonesia, showcasing its commitment to sustainability.

This year’s index predominantly features European countries, with nine out of the top 10 spots secured by European nations. South Korea stands out as the sole Asian country to make it to the top 10 list.

The Green Future Index 2023 is released by MIT Technology Review, a publication owned by the prestigious Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It evaluates countries based on five key criteria: carbon dioxide emissions, energy transition, green society, clean technology, and climate change-related policies.
