HCMC – Vietnam has demanded that Taiwan stop its illegal live-fire drills in the waters around Ba Binh Island of the Truong Sa (Spratly) Archipelago, said spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang.
Responding to news agencies’ questions, Hang said in a press release that Taiwan’s act had seriously infringed on Vietnam’s territorial sovereignty over the archipelago, threatening peace, stability and navigation security and safety, causing tensions and complicating the situation in the East Sea.
The spokesperson reiterated that Vietnam has sufficient historical and legal evidence over its sovereignty over the Hoang Sa and Truong Sa archipelagos in accordance with the international law.
Vietnam resolutely objected to Taiwan’s act and asked it not to repeat such violations in the future, Hang added.
