HCMC – The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) has told several airlines to make reports on ticket sales in response to complaints about exorbitant airfares following the Lunar New Year holiday (Tet).
Vietnam Airlines, Vietjet, and Bamboo Airways have been requested to submit their reports on Tet ticket sales in accordance with the Ministry of Transport’s Circular 17/2019, which provides regulations on domestic air ticket pricing.
The deadline for submitting these reports, along with monitoring activities conducted with ticketing agents, is February 26.
Post-Tet travelers have had a difficult time booking air tickets, with reports of limited availability and elevated prices on various routes, the local media reported.
Data of CCAV indicated that over 1.5 million passengers were transported by air between February 8 and 14. While the domestic market declined 13.2%, international air travel surged by a staggering 54%.
There has been positive growth in cargo transportation, with an overall market increase of 7.3%.
