HCMC – The Ministry of Industry and Trade has decided to impose a temporary anti-dumping duty on table and chair imports from China, with effect from September 30.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the temporary anti-dumping duty will be 21.4% for chairs and 35.3% for tables.

An inspection showed that a remarkable increase in goods originating from China had severely impacted local production.

This inspection also looked into table and chair imports from Malaysia, which would be exempted from the temporary anti-dumping duty because the volume of imports is below 3%.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade will continue to work with relevant agencies to collect information and assess the comprehensive impact of the case to arrive at a conclusion.

In recent years, China has been the largest trading partner of Vietnam and a key source of materials and equipment for the nation’s manufacturing industry.
