HCMC  – Vietnam and Indonesia are deepening economic cooperation, especially in investment and strategic sectors.

During his state visit to Indonesia and the ASEAN Secretariat from March 9 to 11, Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam met with top executives from leading Indonesian conglomerates to explore business expansion and collaboration, reported the Vietnam News Agency.

Lam urged major Indonesian corporations to strengthen trade and investment ties with Vietnam, emphasizing key areas such as real estate, technology, finance, and sustainable development.

In a meeting with Budiarsa Sastrawinata, CEO of Ciputra Group, the Vietnamese leader welcomed the company’s plans to expand its presence in Vietnam. Ciputra has been a key player in large-scale green and smart urban projects in the country. The group reaffirmed its commitment to furthering real estate investments, including residential and commercial developments in Hanoi, while exploring new opportunities across Vietnam.

Vietnam also encouraged Indonesian firms to do business in the country, while seeking improved conditions for Vietnamese businesses looking to expand in Indonesia.

In a meeting with Patrick Walujo, CEO and chairman of Gojek, and Garibaldi Thohir, chairman of PT Alamtri Resources, Lam invited Gojek to expand its presence in Vietnam, particularly in areas where it holds a competitive advantage. He also proposed collaboration with Vietnamese financial institutions to advance digital banking, financial technology, and the establishment of an international financial hub.

For PT Alamtri Resources, Lam emphasized opportunities in environmentally friendly mining, technology transfer for modern and safe mineral extraction, renewable energy development, green transition, and digital transformation in Vietnam. He also highlighted potential partnerships in logistics, port infrastructure, electric vehicles, battery production, and smart transportation networks.

Both companies expressed interest in expanding in Vietnam and sought support to accelerate their market entry.

Lam also met with Oey Alfred, director of Sungai Budi Group, to discuss agricultural collaboration. He praised the group’s partnerships with Vietnamese firms in coconut and sugar production and emphasized potential growth areas such as aquaculture and Halal food production.

In a separate meeting with Anindya Bakrie, chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KADIN), both sides explored ways to boost trade and investment. KADIN sought Vietnam’s support in facilitating high-tech investments, green economy initiatives, digital projects, marine economy development, and semiconductor industries.

The chamber also proposed strengthening ties with the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) to promote business collaboration between the two nations.
