HCMC – Vietnam keeps its economic growth target unchanged at 10% or above despite rising global uncertainties and domestic challenges, according to Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

Chinh made the remarks while chairing the Government’s regular monthly meeting for March, held alongside an online conference with local authorities to review socio-economic performance in the first quarter of 2026 and outline priorities for the coming months.

Reviewing key achievements, he said that many international organizations and experts have continued to give positive assessments of Vietnam’s economic performance and outlook, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

He asked ministries, sectors and local authorities to identify existing shortcomings, their causes, lessons learned and the outlook for the period ahead, while paying close attention to negative external factors, especially the increasingly complex conflicts in the Middle East and other parts of the world.

Reaffirming that the growth target of at least 10% will remain unchanged, PM Chinh called for concrete tasks and solutions to reinvigorate traditional growth drivers while fostering new ones.

Continued efforts were urged to preserve macroeconomic stability, keep inflation in check and maintain key economic balances, laying the groundwork for growth in 2026 and beyond.

He urged a stronger push on public investment, targeting full disbursement, alongside faster approval and rollout of programs in science and technology, innovation, digitalisation and green transition.

He called on relevant agencies to ensure allocated funds are used effectively, prevent implementation delays, accelerate construction of key railway links with China, and remove legal bottlenecks in long-delayed projects to unlock resources and curb further waste.
